Why Roles Matter
Every attendee on your event carries a role, shown as a badge next to their name in the Attendees tab and beside anything they post in Comments. It tells everyone at a glance who is running the event, who is speaking, and who the day is actually about.
Assigning a Role
Open your event, go to the Attendees tab, and tap Role next to the person you want to change. Pick from the list and it applies straight away — no confirmation step, and you can change it again whenever you like.
The Roles
- Co-Host — shares hosting duties with you
- Organizer — running the logistics behind the event
- Chairman — presiding over proceedings
- Bride and Groom — for weddings and engagement celebrations
- Speaker — presenting or performing
- VIP — guests of honour
- Attendee — the default everyone starts on
Roles are labels, not permissions. Marking someone Co-Host tells guests who they are; it does not hand them control of the event. Nobody but you can edit the event, change tickets, or remove attendees.
Using Them Well
Assign the roles that help people navigate the day and leave everyone else as Attendee. At a wedding, tagging the couple and the chairman helps guests recognise them in the comments. At a conference, tagging speakers makes it obvious whose answers carry weight in a busy thread. Tagging half your guest list as VIP just makes the badge meaningless.
Worth doing before the event rather than during it — the badges do most of their work while people are still deciding whether to come and who they will meet.
