You Are in Control of Your Inbox
Messaging on taron is designed to connect people around events, communities, groups, and shared interests. But not every message deserves a response, and not every conversation you receive is welcome. When a message feels unwanted, inappropriate, spammy, or suspicious, use the available safety controls rather than leaving the situation unaddressed.
What You Can Do
Depending on what the taron UI shows in a specific conversation or on a user profile, you may have the option to decline a message request, block a user, report a conversation, or remove and archive a thread. Use only the controls that appear in your taron interface — do not assume a specific option is available unless you can see it.
Blocking — When you block someone, they can typically no longer send you messages. Access the block option from the conversation menu or the user's profile.
Reporting — Reporting flags the content for review by taron. Use it for spam, harassment, inappropriate content, or anything that appears to violate taron's Community Guidelines. Access report options from the conversation menu.
Declining a request — If a message arrives as a request rather than in your active inbox, you can decline it without blocking the sender. This is the lowest-friction option when the message is simply irrelevant rather than harmful.
Common Situations
You receive a message with no useful context — Review the sender's profile and any shared connections such as mutual communities or events. If there is no relevant connection and the message is not meaningful, decline the request or ignore it.
Spam or repeated messages — Do not engage. Use the report or block option if it is available for that conversation.
A suspicious link in a message — Do not click it. Report the conversation immediately and block the sender if you feel it is necessary.
An inappropriate or harassing message — Report it. Do not respond. Block the sender. If the behaviour is serious, taron support can assist.
A message from someone you no longer want contact from — Use the block option from their profile or from the conversation. Blocking is quiet — the other person is not directly notified that they have been blocked.
After You Block or Report
Once you block someone, they will typically no longer be able to message you and their content may become less visible to you across the platform. Reports are reviewed by taron and actioned where a violation is confirmed. You do not need to wait for confirmation of a report's outcome — once you have submitted it, your responsibility ends there.
